Anne Reeser, Environmental Manager

Change

"As an Environmental Manager, I keep myself busy with all environment-related aspects within our sustainability strategy, with this I belong to the sustainability team," Anne Reeser begins. It's 2012 when Anne makes her entrance at WE Fashion, where she works several years as a Buyer for outdoor and beachwear. After leaving WE® in 2016, she returns in 2021 to start a new adventure in her current role. An important milestone for Anne, that is. "Now I can personally contribute to making the clothing industry more sustainable. This is very important to me. I have fond memories of my time as a Buyer and can now use my experience to help others within the organisation make more sustainable choices. A fun fact is that in the photo attached to this article, I'm wearing a trench coat that I had produced myself. The quality remains good and it's been my favourite summer coat for years."

"We keep reminding each other that anything is possible. By taking small steps, we keep moving forward and we can change a lot."

Progression

"Times have changed at WE Fashion. I especially noticed this when I came back here after five years," Anne says. "The atmosphere and work ethic are now more strongly focused on striving together for the best results. On top of that, the organisation is completely open to new, innovative ideas." WE® has been committed to sustainability for years and this is increasingly visible. There's lots of movement in this area; from innovative resources to international laws and regulations. "We are transparent and show how we – as a company – contribute to making the fashion industry more sustainable. We also pay a lot of attention to the quality of our products: the better the product is, the longer the lifespan and the more sustainable the item." It’s therefore precisely this ground-breaking process that Anne loves so much about her job. In addition, she also works on mapping out and reducing the ecological footprint, which can be quite a challenge. "You obviously want our products to be as well made as possible, while having them be sustainable and realised at an appropriate price. What a great thing it is that I can combine my passion for sustainability with my experience from buying." Anne also appreciates the company’s focus on personal development. "I believe there’s still plenty for me to learn. WE® guides me well and this allows me to grow continuously."

The future

When Anne takes a moment to reflect on what she's already been able to achieve, she can't help but feel proud. She’s also excited for the future. "I will definitely stay at WE Fashion, where I can continue to grow and make the company even more sustainable. Right now, for example, we’re converting our common resources, to a usable recycled option, such as denim and materials made with less water and chemicals." Besides this, she says she can't miss her nice co-workers either. "I feel at home within the team and the organisation. Together we keep reminding each other that anything is possible. By taking small steps, we keep moving forward and can change a lot," Anne says.
